The rain finally stopped mid-afternoon, and we were able to raise the frame. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. A few friends who will always show up on short notice, a chance to involve the neighbors. Block and tackle for the heavy lifting, then marrying up the scarf for the last time.
Everybody got to drive a few pegs…
It’s been a long day.
Wow! I can only try to imagine how satifying it must be to bring something of this scale together. Looks great.
At best, raising is one of the most collaborative experiences. Three of these guys I have worked with a lot, the other two are neighbors. After four months working by myself, it was great to have some help.
That is some fantastic looking joinery for the structure. What is it going to be when done?
A carport with a flat roof…if time and money hold out, there will be a small gazebo on the flat roof. The French doors in the background will connect.
That may set the record for the most deluxe, well built carport in existence. Someone should call Guinness!
